Kayleigh's first show! She was only in two classes, both walk/trot equitation. She rode Trinity, a school horse. Trinity was having an off day and didn't want to trot, but Kayleigh hung in there and got that crabby ole mare to trot. At one point in her life Trinity was an A-circuit children's hunter. She apparently did very well until she sustained a stifle injury and is no longer able to jump. She lugs the little ones around the arena with a tremendous amount of patience on most days, but other days, oooh...she can be CRABBY!
Kayleigh placed third in both classes.
Come on Trinity, TROT!
The kid has pretty good posture for an 8-year-old.
We need to work on heels down. She's quite confident up there!
Lining up for the judges. She was all grins and business.
She was a bit nervous about riding in front of so many people. Her biggest worry before the show was that the judge was going to give her an "F."
Very proud of herself. She did extremely well.
As soon as we got home she hung those ribbons and her number up on her bedroom wall. She's already planning her next horse show. Jackets were waived for this show because it is the first of the season and a schooling show. I guess if she wants to keep showing (and I still have a job come Monday!) I'll have to find a nice, used children's jacket for the show season.
How adorable! She looks like she was having a blast!
ReplyDeleteAwesome job Kayleigh!!
I am so proud of you Kayleigh! You looked great on that big pretty horse. Judges love to see a good rider with such a happy smile. Those ribbons will go up on the wall, right? Love ya bunches!
ReplyDeleteI love that natural confidence that so many children have. It seems that once they become teenagers their self-esteem goes down the toilet, and their general nervousness gets in the way of their success. She does have nice posture on that horse.
ReplyDeletegreat job Kayleigh. Keep up the big smile, show the judges you enjoy the ride. Soon your bedroom walls will look like your Grandmother's and your Mom's, use too..
ReplyDeleteLove Ya, gt granma f.
could her smile get any bigger?!!! :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!
regarding your job on Monday? Hope it will still be there for you. Our local paper, The Detroit Free Press, is going to home deliver on Thursday Friday and Sundays only. I guess this is to save them enough to not go out of print entirely.
ReplyDeleteI showed Kayleigh everyone's "congrats" comments and she did her classic "wiggle and giggle." For those that haven't met her, her giggle is extremely contagious and the more excited she is, the wigglier she gets, like the excitement is literally building up inside her body until the only way to release it is by wiggling. Like mad. :P
ReplyDeleteKathy...the ribbons are now above her headboard, flanked by a couple she got from her Nana over the summer.
NuzzMuzz...you are absolutely right. They are so confident this young and then they go into that "I don't want to be noticed by ANYONE" phase. I sure hope she keeps her confidence!
lovgtgrmma...She had a great ride and loved every minute of it. I think she would have happily ridden in six more classes that day. Once the initial nervousness was over she was ready to GO!
A.Di...I hope it's still here, too. I have a feeling they are going to drag this out all day long. Other papers in our company have not only cut jobs, but they've cut pay across the board and forced non-paid furloughs. So, we'll see. And depending on what cuts they make, I'll then have to decide whether or not continuing to work here is even worth it. Assuming I have a job, of course.
I love Robert Wukovich
ReplyDeleteNot as much as i do!!!!
