And especially the part about Gabe - I just cracked up and could just see his face and him blaming you!!! Too funny!! Thanks so much for the laughs girl - don't you just love it when they're big, young and dumb goofballs!? Ladde did a very similar thing in the round pen once, he just kept going faster and faster and refused to listen to me. Before he knew it, whoosh! all 4 legs went right out from under him and down he went, just like you said with a big old air gushing out of his lungs grunt! But...he just layed there and lifted his head to look over at me like "what did you do to me???". I just cracked up and told him to get up you big over grown GIRL!! So, he did and he was ever so careful and respectful the rest of the workout. Aaah lessons aren't something any of us necessarily enjoy I guess. :) So glad you got some horseback time in. Feels good huh?
(I too had never heard the term volte) I did however know just what you meant. Been there, done that with my brat Harley.C-ingspotshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17744931697050670013noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6538504362683279705.post-8019568783533997482009-02-03T11:38:00.000-06:002009-02-03T11:38:00.000-06:00Tammy...see, you do learn something new every day!...Tammy...see, you do learn something new every day! :) I love being able to work with all of them, it just doesn't happen often enough. Of course, today it's back down to negative temps, so I'm happy I was able to get out and mess with them this weekend.

Mrs. Mom...you're welcome! I'll be watching for that post. The look on his face was priceless. It was a mix of shock, confusion, blame and a whole lot of "Did that really just happen?"

NuzzMuzz...Yup, as soon as it starts warming up the wickedness comes out in ALL of them! They are like kids on a sugar buzz. I HATE riding out bucks, they kill my back. Good for you for sticking 'em!

Kelly...I sure hope the big goofball learned his lesson! I laughed at him and I'm pretty sure I hurt his little feelings. If he was a kid he would have rolled his eyes, huffed off and slammed the door.

allhorsestuff...I think it's a strength/balance issue for Gabe. It could be for Wa, too. He's much less strong and balanced tracking right than he is left so he "cheats" by drifting in towards me instead of rounding and balancing. When he does come in towards me I point the tip of my whip at the point of his shoulder and take a big step towards his shoulder and tell him to "get out"....he usually moves back over pretty quickly but I have to stay on top of it.
Ohhh...I'll have to post "after" pics of my poor, poor trees. There aren't many left standing. It looks horrible and we can already tell a big difference in the amount of wind coming through.Jennhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16283334035989645291noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6538504362683279705.post-53954288499811028302009-02-03T11:26:00.000-06:002009-02-03T11:26:00.000-06:00(((HA))) Gabe silly! Mine would have went down and still persited in it, as she gets embarraced and try to cover herself! She tends to come in on track left...frustrates me...maybe it is becasue I start with track right?
Soo glad you are warming up and got all three under you in the void of chainsaw noises! How does it look now?
KKallhorsestuffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05301081722884351021noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6538504362683279705.post-64012484001911103152009-02-03T04:29:00.000-06:002009-02-03T04:29:00.000-06:00HAHAHAHA...babies are so funny when they act like ...HAHAHAHA...babies are so funny when they act like idiots and it all goes wrong!! I rode out four bucks this weekend.Nuzzling Muzzleshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07649710635013663900noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6538504362683279705.post-4014369882114037652009-02-02T11:31:00.000-06:002009-02-02T11:31:00.000-06:00WHOOOHOOOO!! LOL

Thanks for the post idea. I never thought about owners not having a "tool kit" handy. I'll work on that, and try to include some pics and links for folks! Thanks again!

And HAPPY RIDING!!!!Mrs. Momhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15269132012512166439noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6538504362683279705.post-79740878141493697272009-02-02T10:04:00.000-06:002009-02-02T10:04:00.000-06:00Granted, I have only been back into horses for abo...Granted, I have only been back into horses for about a decade, but I have never heard anyone use the word "Volte". I had to look that one up! Now I know.

Enjoyed "riding with you"! Isn't it fun to get time on or with all of them?

We had much of the same weather on Saturday, but a little chillier Sunday but still doable. I took my oldest horse - the 13 yr old KID BROKE gelding - out for a little ride. He was a nutcase! I don't know if it was in the wind or what, but when he finally got his wits about him (for about 60 seconds), I turned back for home. It was NOT the pleasant ride I wanted.

Weather here is predicted for the 50's again on Thurs, Fri & Sat! Hope it sticks!Tammy Vasahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01531335275070860886noreply@blogger.com
